In loving memory of Speedy, a very special tortoise and great escape artist who was lost and found twice and will be in our hearts forever.
The purpose of my work in communicating with a lost animal is to increase the possibilities for a positive outcome and a successful animal-human reunion. I do all that I can to support you in finding your missing pet. However, I can not guarantee the animal will be found. My ultimate goal is to provide more peace of mind and a sense of deeper connection and understanding between you and your missing animal friend. My first suggestion is to take all the necessary search steps: put up flyers, ask the neighbors, and check often with the local animal shelters and rescue groups. During a communication session, I first intuitively assist your pet to be as calm and receptive as possible, then try to determine if he/she is alive and safe and ask what may have happened. I ask the animal’s point of view and listen to what the animal may have to say. Then I merely transmit the information to you so you can assess the situation from that perspective. The communication work can be quite involved and may include many variables. For the animal may be frightened, disoriented, confused, not able to return home, not ready to be found, or is on the move and difficult to pinpoint. An animal may describe landmarks that are not accurate in time, for the description could be where he/she is at the present moment, has recently been, or would like to be going. Although my communication may reassure that your animal friend is alive and safe, it’s possible the message may not bring such good news. So I encourage you to accept only what resonates for you and be attentive to your hunches and insights along the way. In doing this work I have found the most important piece of the puzzle is a person’s own direct knowing about their animal friend and my communication somehow reinforces that connection, whatever the outcome may be. Looking for a lost animal is a journey of the heart. Not knowing where a beloved pet has gone can instill a strong desire to find closure. If your pet is not found after a long period of time, do not give up hope. Some animals are gone for one day and others for several days, weeks or even months. There have been true accounts of people being reunited with their lost pets after a year or more. The situation requires a delicate balance between keeping hope alive yet knowing when to let go of trying too hard to control the situation. When an animal is gone it may be due to the animal’s need for a change or a higher calling to fulfill a life purpose that is not always ours to know or control. It helps to recognize that animals, similar to people, can make their own choices. For as much as we want our pets to be fully dependent on us, they may be drawn to learn from experiences apart from living with us. A communication session can sometimes bring this into focus for the person or family.

A Message to Share from Sandra Ponce de Leon, CA One of the more difficult things about looking for a lost pet can be the switch from intimacy to cold rational facts. If without anyone to reinforce your ethereal bond with your pet, you may become vulnerable to every cynical person around that say, for instance, the animal will not survive until you find it. And negative stories from others can cause you to feel like losing faith in your understanding of your pet's feelings, when in reality your pet is still accessible to you intuitively. If your lost posters are taken down and your lost reports at shelters and accompanying photos start to seemed to be ignored, it can seem you're only one of thousands of people looking for your pet. Carol helped me keep my individuality, and my cat's, while giving me basic cat logic and directions to my cat’s whereabouts. This all matched reports from people who saw my cat and where I found her to be.
